Trust & Verification

IGI Certificate Verification

Every diamond we sell is independently certified. Here is how to verify yours.

Have questions? We are on WhatsApp 24/7

Every Rare Diamondss diamond comes with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate — one of the most trusted and respected diamond grading reports in the world. This is not a document we produce. It is an independent, third-party evaluation of your exact stone, issued by gemologists with no connection to us. You can verify it yourself in under two minutes.

We do not ask you to trust us. We give you the tools to verify everything yourself.

What is IGI?

The International Gemological Institute was founded in Antwerp in 1975 and is today the world's largest independent gemological laboratory, with offices in over 20 countries including the United States, India, Belgium, and the UAE. Every diamond graded by IGI is evaluated by trained gemologists using standardised equipment under controlled conditions.

An IGI certificate is not a receipt or a warranty — it is a scientific report documenting the precise characteristics of a specific diamond. It cannot be forged on the stone itself, because each certified diamond has its unique report number laser-inscribed on the girdle (the outer edge of the diamond) — invisible to the naked eye but readable under magnification.

Independent grading

IGI has no relationship with Rare Diamondss. Their assessment is entirely objective.

Laser-inscribed number

Your diamond's report number is inscribed on the stone itself. The certificate and stone are inseparable.

Publicly verifiable

Every IGI report can be verified instantly on IGI's official website using your report number.

How to verify your IGI certificate

1

Locate your report number

Your IGI certificate will be included in your package when your order arrives. The report number is printed prominently at the top of the certificate — it is a unique number assigned to your specific diamond and no other stone in the world.

We also send you the IGI report digitally via WhatsApp or email before your order ships
2

Visit the IGI verification portal

Go to the official IGI website at igi.org and navigate to the "Verify Your Report" section. This is a free, publicly available tool maintained by IGI — not by us.

igi.org → Verify Report
3

Enter your report number

Type your IGI report number into the verification field exactly as it appears on your certificate. The portal will return the full details of your diamond — cut, colour, clarity, carat weight, measurements, and the inclusion plot.

4

Compare with your certificate

Every detail shown on the IGI portal should match your physical certificate exactly — the report number, the 4Cs grades, the measurements, and the date of grading. If everything matches, your diamond is exactly what we told you it is.

What you will see when you verify: The full grading report including carat weight, cut grade, colour grade, clarity grade, polish, symmetry, fluorescence, measurements in millimetres, a diagram of the inclusion plot, and the date the stone was graded by IGI.

What your IGI certificate contains

Report number Unique identifier for your specific diamond. Also laser-inscribed on the diamond's girdle.
Shape & cut style The physical shape (round, oval, cushion etc.) and the cutting style applied.
Measurements Precise dimensions of the stone in millimetres — diameter, depth, table width.
Carat weight The exact weight of the stone to two decimal places.
Colour grade The colour grade on the D–Z scale assigned by IGI gemologists under controlled conditions.
Clarity grade The clarity grade from FL to I3, with a detailed inclusion plot diagram showing the location of each inclusion.
Cut grade The overall cut grade — Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, or Poor.
Polish & symmetry Independent grades for the quality of the stone's surface polish and the symmetry of its facets.
Fluorescence Whether the stone exhibits fluorescence under UV light and at what intensity.
Laser inscription Confirmation that the report number is laser-inscribed on the girdle of the diamond.

When you receive your IGI certificate

Every Rare Diamondss order ships with the original physical IGI certificate inside the package. Before your order ships, we also send you a digital copy of the certificate via WhatsApp and email so you can review and verify it before your piece even leaves Surat.

Physical IGI certificate included in every order — no exceptions
Digital certificate sent to you via WhatsApp and email before dispatch
Report number verifiable instantly at igi.org
For custom orders, we share the certificate of your selected stone before production begins — you verify the stone before we set it

Keep your certificate safe. Your IGI certificate is a permanent record of your diamond and affects its resale value. Store it with your order confirmation in a safe place. If you misplace your certificate, a replacement can be requested directly from IGI — we can assist you with this process.
